Running the Race
Sunday, January 31, 2010
Early up at 6.30 I'm headed towards the white tents for the RML commitee. Yeap, I was one of the first few to arrive. Because Tim told me to be there early but ahh no one came early still.Found Yvette, Sarah's, Huiqi and yaaa the rest haha hanging out along the beach with the horizon with a nice orange glow painted by the sunrise.Okies, I was quite nervous before the run, I could see many pro runners, and even an athletic squad are geared up to chiong the finishing line.Ahh ok ok ok, I'll just get to the run.WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO omg omg omg omg I ran 6.4km in 28m48s?? HAHA WAAAA I totally beat me record of 1km faster than normal. omg I just chionged with all the chiongstersMy legs burned with every footsteps, telling myself to press on, dun stop, dun slow down. The times I felt like giving up, but just with the aim in mind of the finishing line, I clocked down an impressive speed, quite to my amazement too. and lols at downing more than 10 cups of the eh 7-up revive. Hahaha spammed ttm me classmates - cos I dun have any pics of me =/ Alrites, Hi!Club's performance then. Haaaaa, was super nervous when we went up but hecks, I think we did a good job =). Had to squeeze into a tiny stage baaaa. And lols, my mom was within the crowd watching xD oh oh and heh, just go up, relax enjoy and have fun, no stress wahahahas. Me first public performance in life ahhh~ DiSheng's falling off the stage already haha performance Be a part; Reach a heart HEY HEY pics from the PCS Symposium are in and woots, all the cool awesome shots taken by Denise =D I'll post the others when more comes. ^^ cooooool right?~~~~~~ Ok time for some random abstract thoughts. (here's where it gets long)Yup, in analogy, our life's often depicted as a race. Some finish it quick, some slower, but it's not about how fast one gets there, more so, it's about the process. How would your story be if your life was written for the world to see? We'll meet all kinds of friends along the way. Acquaintances that appear into your life and quickly disappear off, others whose lives you run into, as well as catching up with the people you've met before in life, and finally, good friends along the way that pace your journey. All in all, the people we meet along the way play a part in our story, or might it seem that you, rather, were part of their story too. This race has no rules, and its directions are ambiguous. Some run by gut instincts, some simply going with the flow. There are those who are clear of where they're heading, and those who stay put. Some head off in the wrong direction, and stray off the path and we can only pray that these lost souls find their way back. Yet an amazing to note is that we too, often go astray, but yet out there, there are some of those special people, who give part of their life, their run, to come back looking for you. Through no means of communication, they just run and run, hoping to find you, and guide you back. Sweet isn't it?We fall and bruise ourselves, we get tired. For the fortunate ones, you know you can count on your friends to support you. But what about those alone? Do we sit there, crying and tending to our bruises? But ultimately we all have to pick ourselves up, and say "I will go on no matter what" and we're off once again. From our falls, we accumulate scars. And scars to me, are things I consider beautiful. Not because they make you look manly or what lols but heh, within each scar, a tale is embedded for life. And when we look at them, think of them as reminders, a reminder of a life event, reminder of learning from your mistakes. To round it off, I end this with a value of mine, where i believe that nothing in life is wasted. Not a happening in life goes untouched, just as how every second of our life is penned down in our experiences, thoughts, feelings, memories, values, beliefs, so on and so forth. Be it the worse heartbreak or the joyous times together with friends, nothing really goes to waste in God's plan for moulding our lives. And just as how every little thing that happens to us is significant, every action you take, every move you make goes a long way to creating an impact as well, albeit good or bad. Cos you never know how much a life you'll touch even with just one simple action. Others may not express it, but don't stop believing that your action are worth nothing. Just do it ^^~~~~~~~
Random Smiles:

The calm windy breeze following a long summer run
Tuesday, January 26, 2010
Haha today was quite a fun day, started off with me meeting TK at the gym at 10am only to find that it's closed from 10 -12 this week. Baaa, then we wanted to go to the swimming pool to put our bags and yups, closed too lolol.
Anyways, we decided to run at the tracks then. I made a good attempt at 30.5min for 6km ^^ and then 30 minutes was spent just sitting by the stairs relaxing, enjoying the breeze and peace. =) Good moments. Went to gym again after lunch and took a looong bath. hehe.
Studied for like 30 minutes before meeting Yve-Yizhen gang for dinner at pizza hut and lmao, I down 4 cups of coke and loool I had the runs after that >.< Hi!Club... omg timothy sabo-ed me to do main lead and with all the gestures and drama ohmystinkingpoops, I cant do it, I dont dare. And and, I have to like grab the girl's hand as well as do a short drama of us fighting zomg la. And waaaa, still have to look at her eyes =,= I realized I still fear girls... Or maybe just on the touch part? O.o owells haha, sheesh.Mood for the day was pretty calm and good-natured. and then with a bit of melancholy .___. and then haha, ended of the day with quite a bit of fun =)
Sometimes, I wish for innocence of heart, just a peaceful serene mind without those distracting thoughts that robs me of the essence of life. Perhaps then, I could look at you, without fear, without malice, and without anything more than just a friend.Random Smiles
Was taking train with Yizhen some days back and we saw this advert on the train. It's kinda an irony? People with hearing losses calling? Can they even hear over the phone in the first place?Labels: hi club, running, smile

Wheeeee! Just got back from the 10km run. Muahaha , I've beat my previous timing for all my training. 10.4km in 54 mins =)
There's also this cool timing chip which you stick/tie unto your shoe which will become a slight problem later on in the run.
I paced someone throughout the run. lol i was in front for 7km. Slipstream effect for the other fella. =( I no gas le she still can run off...
I'm quite busy so I'll jus give a quick simple itinerary.
ITINERARY
[ Before the Race ] Joined the wrong group for the run. Blindly followed the crowd to the section for 15km. Thank God my mom spotted me and called out to me. Duh...
[ 1km - 6km ] Woohoo! found someone to pace with. Went at good pace at 5mins/km. Overtaking plenty of people. Hundreds i tell ya.
[ 6km ] Legs burned with every step I took.
[ 7km] My pacing buddy overtook me, nv to be seen again.
[8km - 9km] Omg omg I'm dying, where's the finishing line?! Took a 3 secs break to recuperate.
[ 10 km] "THERE! I SEE IT!!!'
[50m away from FL] *sprints like there was no tmr* There was this guy cheeering for me. Probably cause I was sprinting really fast.
[ 2m away from FL] Right shoe comes off at a sharp turn due to the uneven platform. Decides to finish that 2m then come back to pick my shoe.
[Finishing line] *looks back* *looks down* O.O" "OMFG, the timing chip is on my right shoe (which is left behind)"
[ 2m away from FL] *picks up shoe and stare at 2 guys run past JUST 2 METRES AWAY FROM THE FINISHING LINE!!*
[Finishing line (again)] Wooootss! I completed it faster than my training! Guy 1: Are you ok? Do you need medication assistance? Me: No... Guy 1: Do you need to rest? Me: What do ya think?
[Goodie bag area] *Breathes heavily* Guy 2: You feeling ok? Me: Yup, I'm alright *grabs goodie bag*
[Before Drinks corner] Guy 3: Are you alright? Me: Yes... (For goodness sake, stop pestering me people, I'm jus dam tired) *ask guy for a drink*
[Drinks corner] *grabs 2 cans of 100 plus and chugs it down* Guy 4: Are you ok? Me: ...
[Resting Corner] Super 'bu gan yuan' about my shoe flying off... *Gulps more 100 plus*
[In the middle of nowhere] Sat down and relaxed and calculated how much seconds i wasted in my embarrassing act. 7 secs I think. Realized that my face would look bleached-pale after the run. No wonder everybody kept asking.
[some forsaken place under the shades] Squeeze my singlet and was awed seeing water or erm... sweat dripping down.
Hmph, so much for a cool looking ending. Sprinting after a 10km run. everybody would be like looking at me running fast. And then?! And then?! Everybody sees my shoe flying off my leg, me looking back with a "omg what shud i do? look, then running off with only a shoe, ALL JUS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FINISHING LINE.
I cannot emphasize any further how stupid that was.

Day One Being A Freshie
Monday, April 20, 2009
Oooo, the first day of school liao. Wake up slightly before 7, washed up and then headed for school. The journey only took an hour today, but my bag was quite heavy, carry until suan sia. Reached school quite early, step of the bus only be greeted by the percussion people. Wa, ear super pain sia. K never mind about that. Smsed Xiao Hui to see if she reached or not but she's stuck in a jam. Waited for her outside class, wait so long liao, then she say she's inside already. O_o" So first class was Written Communication. Is like aiyooo, back to essays and stuff again sia, but need more words and pro-ness. Class was super quiet, with a bit of response from the class every now and then. And eek, i forgot to print my notes. So we played some ice breaker games, the one where you have to add an adjective to your name, then say all those before you yea? When its not my turn, easy like nothing, but when come to me liao, everything forget le. Ah, then one girl called Denise chose dumb. Aiya, the easy one taken liao. Tried thinking of other D-adjectives but I could only think of Dumber. Lol, no originality de haha. Nvm, in the end, I chose Diabolic Darren. Muahahaha. K, another funny quote.Bobo: ... Erm, Angelic Aizrin(dunno how spell), Messy Mabel, erm then who ah?Darren: *waves hand*Bobo: Oh ya er, Diabetic Darren.(I guess Satan has kidney failure too.)And one more thing, not using my mind for the last 6 months, and then suddenly using it for studies based on a whole new level of chim-ness is like hard, for me at least. All the things the teacher say is jus flowing through my head. None of the words wants to stay in this dusty mind of mine. Then need to think of ideas and suggestions and write a short paragraph. Similarly, all the old words and ideas from last time also moved out liao, its like my head is a ghost town. Nobody's in and nobody's staying. After class, me and Xiao Hui went on our legendary quest for food. We go Makan Place and its packed like siao. Then walk here walk there, walk until I disorientated. So go back to a familiar point then walked to Canteen 2 i think. Not as crowded as Makan Place for sure. XH decided not to eat, so I jus chionged thru my meal. Met up with Tim and Jun Ming after their class, then followed them all the way to Canteen 3, some ulu ulu canteen at one corner of the campus. Eat liao rush back to lecture hall. Grabbed JM and sat some where near the middle. The lecture hall seats are like super cramp, and for someone with long legs like me, I dam buay tahan sia. Kept fidgeting until... Ka-plonked, all my stuff dropped of my table into the fella in front. Paiseh sia, but nvm I'm not the only one =PLike I said before, Sociology was super chim. Its like my mind suddenly become tourist hot spot, some many things just raging thru. The lecturer forced one of us to volunteer to read out a story. "Lets see, well. We'll have Darren..." My heart skipped a beat. "...From T03"Waaaaa, make me have adrenaline rush for nothing sia. The lecturer talked abt our assignments. See already I know sure die de. Sociology chim enough, we still had to observe people, and implement what we learn in sociology into it. One of the assignments got to write report of 120 ~ 150 words. Easy right? WRONG! Throw in another zero at the back. That's like 400% to 500% my normal word capacity. How I'll ever manage that, I hav no idea.Dance4Fund. My dance event for HMS school. Whoo, more people from Pebbles are joining. And, crap sia, some HMS big lecturer or something is inviting T01 (my class) to go. Now I'll have my whole class looking at me dance, and perhaps, suffer from acute laughing fits. They better hav the paramedics team nearby. Oh by the way, did I mentioned we're dancing some Indian dance?!?! Compare that with the common hip hop dances and you should know where I'm getting at. CCA Fiesta wasn't much. They just gave out plain old flyers without detailed details. Uh huh, jus bunch of scrap paper to me. Anyway, Badminton!! Omg la... its on Saturday -- weekend gone, 9.30 to 1 -- late sleep gone, badminton + long journey -- energy gone. But lol, think I'll still join and see how long I can tahan.Looking forwrd to tomorrow! Actually, not really la. See my assignments already head dizzy. Going running tonite, hopefully can hit 10km. EDIT: Forget 10km , too long =P , But, YESSS i beat my previous record for 5km, now its down to 24 mins. Labels: Dance, running, School
Post-Camp Syndrome
Thursday, April 16, 2009
Finally experienced running on a treadmill. Didn't like it, it felt so cramped especially if I was running at a fast speed. Just a slight variation on my speed and either I'll go too front or risk getting thrown off the treadmill at 10km/hr. And the aircon was making me feel sick. Like as though the insides of me were hot and the outside was cold. I think I'll stick to running on hard ground. School's starting next week, I'm excited yet nervous as well. Finally re-entering society, having to study once again. Thats a 6 months break we poly ppl had, half a year mind you. Nooooo, found out I'm different class from my PCS friends =( and my timetable is awful and confusing. Cant go for my precious badminton on Monday because I have classes.I'm getting the post camp syndrome. Missing the fun times I had with the FOC group, all the laughs, all the teasing, all the fun. Although it only lasted one and a half days, it was definitely an awesome time I had. Labels: running
